Sunglasses and Earplugs
Sunglasses, you have no problem with them do you?
Anyone can wear them right?
Most people wear them because it is too bright to see.
It is uncomfortable to look at bright things without the sunglasses protection to lower down the light level.
Some people wear them to hide their eyes to avoid eye contact, we also accept that.
Wearing earplugs for construction noise such as jackhammer and cutting steel is expected as the noise is too loud. The earplug is an attempt to lower the sound level.
Autistics (and me) have a heightened sense of sound.
It is a fact. Do not deny it. Accept it.
To stop someone who is sensitive to sound from plugging their ears (or blocking their sight from too bright a light) is wrong.
The sound is too loud to the person.
Sounds are too loud, loudness or sharp sudden noise can be perceived as anger or danger. Example of a slamming door, or an argument. Sirens and other noise pollution common in cities/urban environment.
Why do you fear earplugs? Because you may lose control over your charge?
I witnessed a willful small child run away from her parents and her parent screamed at her to stop. She heard but disobeyed orders.
Too much silence is bad I do agree (earplugs in all the time), but also the unlimited stress of startling and/or loud noises is worse.
You attempt to make someone see in bright light, though their eyes are not made for that level of brightness.
Beatings will not help.
