Homemade water fountain

I mentioned I made a water fountain.

It is what I expected and wanted. Its not $100.00 pretty, but it is good enough to me.

Their are multiple areas of water-to-air contact. Top bowl, water spout filling the top bowl, all the side of the bowl as it randomly spills over, the bubbles as it hits the lower bowl reservoir, finally the lower reservoir. Two sources for sound, the water entering the top bowl and the water entering the lower bowl.

It’s sound type depends on your luck. Mine right now sounds like a piddling.

If you have to go to the bathroom, it sure reminds you. Some might not like it as it is fast sounding, as in urgent.

I could increase the flow rate to change the top angle of water entry (and sound), but this would increase the splash radius, which I wish to keep the splashing as small as possible.

Update:

This is a popular post on the blog. I had a video of the thing working but never got around to uploading it, now the video is lost, sorry. I only used this in winter. Now it is on a shelf. I used it to add humidity to my electrically heated apartment.

Parts list

large glass vase , about 12 inchs tall

dish or base container, tall enough for a submerged water pump

water pump

tubing for water pump ,  short in length as pump is very weak

copper wiring, from household wiring with all insulation taken off

level base

water

electricity (grounded) for water pump that has a three prong-grounded plug

Plan for Worst case scenario:

The tube carrying the water falls out of position. The water from the source- base will be pumped out. Total equalling about one cup. Can the floor handle it?
